Retro Sports Day raises £6,500 to support young people
14 June 2022
Following an afternoon of challenges, games and laughs, Torus Foundation’s recent Retro Sports Day has helped raise an outstanding £6,500!
To support the Foundation’s first corporate fundraiser, teams across the north west came together to support opportunities for our young community. Money raised will enable the Foundation to welcome more young people to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award and to enhance important SEND (Special Education Needs and Disability) sessions at FireFit Youth and Community Hub.
Thanks to the event sponsors; Accountable Recruitment, Paddock Johnson, Markhams, Steven Hunt and Associates and Sutcliffe, the Retro Sports Day event attracted over 100 people to FireFit. Each participant hoping to leave with a victory or at least survive the final inflatable challenge!
We were also delighted to be joined by special guests High Sheriff of Merseyside, Ms L C Martin-Wright JP DL, British Boxer Natasha Jonas, St Helen’s Rugby star Tara Jones and Children’s Rights Advocate and Author Paul Walmsley.
The High Sheriff helped start the day with an encouraging pep talk and thanked participants for their dedication to make a difference to others. Natasha was over the moon to see businesses keen to raise money for young people from her local community and Tara, as always, got stuck in and joined HMS and other teams in some of the challenges.
It was also a great opportunity to showcase FireFit Youth and Community Hub’s facilities.
