Torus Foundation joins local partners, welcoming job seekers to Spring into Work
15 April 2024
Torus Foundation recently teamed up with local businesses, training providers and almost 150 people seeking job and training opportunities at the Job Centre Plus’ (JCP) Spring into Work employment event.
The Duke St, Liverpool branch of JCP invited job seekers to the Foundation’s FireFit Youth and Community Hub in L8, where the sports hall was transformed into a welcoming space for organisations to offer free advice, support and promote a variety of opportunities.
Dan Bamford, Torus Foundation’s Employment and Skills Manager, and his team took the chance to spread the work about the free support available:
“It was a pleasure to meet so many people eager to take that step into work. The team has received over 20 referrals alone from today for our Future Focus project aimed at supporting Liverpool residents get closer to employment.”
In addition to the referrals to Torus Foundation, Torus’ Recruitment and Onboarding team were able to speak with people interested in current and future opportunities with Torus and group member HMS.
The event welcomed 17 providers in total, ranging from the Armed Forces to the Emergency Services, local organisations, training providers and more. Paul Rothwell and Deana Hughes, JCP Disability Employment Advisors shared their thoughts on the day’s success.
Paul explains:
“This event stands out for me as one of the best in terms of bringing together so many key organisations, and FireFit providing a great area that helped those looking for work feel comfortable when seeking support.”
Deana adds:
“It was great to be on hand for so many community members in the local area.”
