Torus helps Doreen celebrate her 100th Birthday

04 December 2023

Last month, we had the joy of helping one of our lovely, Liverpool sheltered scheme residents celebrate turning 100 (yes, 100!).

Doreen's week-long festivities were filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with family, friends, and neighbours, as well as a special visit from Torus CEO, Steve Coffey, who wanted to personally wish her a Happy Birthday.

Speaking about her milestone Birthday and celebrations, Doreen, said:

“I have had a wonderful birthday and was made to feel very special by my family and everyone at the scheme. I was thrilled that Steve had taken the time to call and see me. It was nice to put a face to the name and I enjoyed our chat and the lovely biscuits and flowers he brought.”

Doreen moved in the scheme 19 years with her sister and prior to that they lived happily on Mark Street, enjoying views across the river Mersey and would often watch the sun go down. Doreen added:

“I have been very happy living at the scheme, everyone regularly checks on me to see if I need anything, but I look forward to Thursdays the most when my Great-Nephew takes me shopping to M&S in town.”

We are pleased to report that the flowers lasted, but we are not sure the biscuits didn't do that well!

Happy Birthday, Doreen, from everyone here at Torus.
