Team HMS is celebrating being appointed to redevelop the Gillars Green site in Eccleston and build over 30 new homes on site, as part of Torus’ £4.8 million investment in the area.

As one of the region’s fastest growing contractors, the expansion of our New Build workstream already accounts for over 500 new build homes across the North West since 2018 and this latest development in St Helens will see us add another 36 homes to the tally.

The scheme will see the demolition of six vacant three-storey apartment blocks on site and building a range of semi-detached and detached houses and bungalows for rent and home ownership. Discussing the development, Construction Director, John Barrow, said: “Gillars Green is the second site HMS has built in St Helens – the largest the team has built in the area since we started our New Build workstream. Gillars Green is an exciting project for HMS, as we are taking a lead in actively regenerating an area in the borough.

“Through demolishing and rebuilding new homes, we will create a community that is more futureproofed and sustainable, building homes that fit the needs of future residents. As a contractor, we are committed to becoming greener and modernising homes and Gillars Green is a prime example of how a new build development can replace often outdated and more environmentally damaging materials and construction processes to create houses that stand the test of time.”

As a Group with goals to reduce our carbon footprint and become more sustainable, it was imperative that they were replaced with greener homes.

“HMS is a conscious contractor and already embrace a number of recycling and green initiatives throughout its construction processes, so were the most logical choice for this project. Gillars Green will help set the tone for all future developments Torus undertakes and I am looking forward to seeing a greener, more environmentally friendly approach to building at the forefront of all our developments going forward.”
