Making a Meaningful Difference – Involved Customer Conference 2024
18 September 2024
In August, Torus invited its involved customers to an inspiring day featuring talks from Torus leadership and interactive workshops to help put the views of customers at the heart of Torus.
The event, held at the Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helens, was kick-started by Torus Group Chief Executive, Steve Coffey, who unveiled Torus’ new corporate plan and how, over the next five years, the Group intends to continue to invest in communities, with the help of involved customers.
Torus Group Housing Director, Paul Warburton, reaffirmed Torus’ commitment to improving services in our communities with our new neighbourhood model which sees an increase in Neighbourhood Officers to offer more hands-on support in our communities.
Speaking about the event, Paul commented:
“We need the involvement of our customers – whether they’re tenants, leaseholders or shared owners – to make a meaningful difference in shaping our future.
“Today was all about looking back at what we have achieved, but also looking to the future. We are working closely with our customers to improve our services, and we’re already seeing a positive change with our new neighbourhoods model.”
Attendees also heard from Chief Operating Officer, Cath Murray-Howard, about our repairs service and were given the opportunity to share their own experiences and suggestions for improvements.
The achievements of Torus Foundation, who support Torus customers to improve their skills, wellbeing and finances, were celebrated in a presentation by the Foundation’s Managing Director, Kate Shone.
Rounding off the day was a moving celebration of some of Torus’s most devoted involved customers, including:
- Harry Mooney and Elaine Doolan
- James Heneghan
- Carol Cave and Stuart McCallister
- Brian Lawrinson, Ray Ellison and Julie Bills
- Remi Baublys
Will, an involved customer from Halewood commented:
“I've been to events in the past where you felt there was a distance between those presenting and the audience - not in the case of Torus. It was great to meet everyone and be able to put names to faces. I really enjoyed the breakout sessions and the awards as it’s always great to see recognition for those who give their time and energy in the service of others.
Tenant Voice Team Leader, Annmarie Flynn said:
“Each of our involved customers brings with them their own unique views and experiences which help make a meaningful difference to the services they are shaping here at Torus.
“Today – both during our breakout sessions and Q&A’s with our leadership team – we have seen brilliant examples of how working together we can come up with some great suggestions for really improving the way things are done across the Group.
“I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to all our involved customers and encourage anyone who is considering sparing a few hours to make a meaningful difference to get in touch.”
