Helping to tackle loneliness and isolation survey (St Helens)

Loneliness and social isolation can affect people of all ages and from all walks of life and residents of St Helens (age 16+) are being asked to take a few minutes to complete a ‘Measuring Loneliness’ survey.

The survey, from Imperial College, London, will be used to gain better information about who exactly is feeling lonely and socially isolated in St Helens and the reasons behind this.

As Chair of the Loneliness and Social Isolation Working Group (part of The Mental Health and Wellbeing Group for St Helens), Torus are sharing on behalf of Imperial Colleague to our St Helens customers.

Who is conducting the survey?

The survey is being conducted out by Imperial College London Department of Primary Care & Public Health. Find out more on their website.

What is the purpose of the survey?

The survey is to investigate how common social isolation and loneliness in the community setting.

How long does the survey take to complete?

The questionnaire should not take you more than 5 minutes to complete.

Is the survey anonymous?

All responses will be pseudo-anonymous, which means that the data will be de-identified from the individual but can be re-identified as needed. Compared to anonymous data is data that has been changed so that reidentification of the individual is impossible

What will the survey findings be used for?

The results will be used to create an action plan to combat loneliness and social isolation in St Helens

Can I complete the survey offline?

If you have access to get online, the easiest way to complete the survey is online, using the link. If you are not able to complete the survey online, you can visit Torus Central public reception in St Helens, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and a member of staff will help you complete the survey.
