This July, Torus joined ASB Awareness Week 2023, a national campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and keep people in our communities safe.

The event aims to encourage communities to take a stand against ASB and highlight the actions that can be taken by those experiencing it.

Across the week, Torus’ Safer Estates Teams across all our three heartlands, were out in our communities, in areas known to have higher levels of ASB, joining our local partners from the Community Safety Partnership and the Local Authority, Councillors, Police, Fire Service, and colleagues from other housing providers to engaging with local residents and business to promote being a good neighbour, to identify any concerns and providing advice on how to report ASB, what support is available, and much more. Thankfully the weather was kind and we met lots of great people!

Following on from the success of Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week, two extra events were added in August, joining colleagues at Cobalt and local partners to visit the areas around Scargreen Shops and Northway Shops in Wavertree.

Commenting, Torus Service Lead for Safer Estates, Scott Cooke said:

“ASB Week is important week for Torus as it helps to shine a spotlight on the tireless work that we do to ensure that our communities are thriving and safe places to live, where people are proud of their neighbourhoods.

“Anti-social behaviour can be damaging, and we are keen to ensure that concerns and issues raised by our residents are investigated and tackled. We strengthen our ability to resolve ASB by working closely with key partners to ensure that we get the best possible results. We have a zero tolerance when it comes to ASB.

“Our Safer Estates team did a great job getting out and about during this week to highlight the work we do to make our communities safer.”

Recent YouGov research commissioned by Resolve found that almost 1 in 5 people have had to consider moving home because of the impact ASB was having on them; 1 in 10 have moved. Despite this, over half of those surveyed who were either a victim or witness of ASB did not report the ASB.

Don’t suffer in silence – report ASB concerns!
