Calling on businesses to enjoy an afternoon of games while supporting young people

08 April 2024

Torus Foundation is gearing up to host another exciting fundraising event to support young people in Liverpool. Retro Sports Day offers businesses the chance to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of games while helping to raise an ambitious £12,000 to make a meaningful impact on the community.

On Wednesday 15th May, businesses across the North West will join forces at Torus Foundation’s FireFit Youth and Community Hub to relive the excitement of a classic school sports day. Participants can look forward to engaging activities and valuable networking opportunities.

As the charitable arm of Torus, one of the North West’s leading social housing associations, Torus Foundation is dedicated to providing a varied programme of supporting to some of the region’s most disadvantaged communities.

One of the Foundation’s key projects is FireFit Youth and Community Hub, located in South Liverpool, a place that plays a crucial role in providing a safe, supportive and engaging environment for young people. FireFit also welcomes the wider community to benefit from a range of sporting and wellbeing opportunities.

Funds raised from Retro Sports Day will be used by FireFit to ease some of the financial pressures felt by families. This includes continuing to waive entrance fees and provide free hot food to the 150 young people who visit the Hub each night.

Businesses can support this vital cause by purchasing a team package for four people at the cost of £500. Joining Torus group members such Torus Developments and HMS, participating businesses will compete alongside organisations from across the North West for the coveted trophies.

Andy Rawlins, Torus Foundation’s Fundraising Manager explains,

“We’re incredibly grateful to the businesses coming together to strengthen Torus Foundation’s work of supporting young people.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Markhams on board as our first key supporter for 2024. Two further key supporters confirmed are PMC Northwest and also Castle Green who are back to defend their winning title from last year. Retro Sports Day would not be possible without the backing of our teams and key supporters, your incredible contributions are vital, not only in making the event a success, but to the positive difference being to the lives of those in our communities.”

Spaces for team tickets are limited, so don’t miss out on a spot for your business.
