HMS in the Top 100 Influential Women in Construction list – 3 times!

21 November 2022

Award-winning contractor HMS is celebrating three of its team being featured in the Top 100 Influential Women in Construction list for their outstanding contributions to supporting women into the sector.

HMS’ Head of Customer Experience, Gail Farley, Apprentice turned full-time Joiner, Lynn Greaves and longstanding partner, Saints Womens Rugby League Team player, Tara Jones, were all shortlisted and recognised for their hard work, passion and commitment to promoting roles for women in construction and their continued push for women to take up roles traditionally filled by males.

With HMS genuinely committed to advocating for equal opportunities across the construction sector, this award highlights its dedication to investing in employment and training programmes, ran by Torus Foundation, which to date, has helped over 80 women into gainful employment and training roles across the construction sector, with women in Liverpool, St Helens and Warrington joining HMS as trade apprentices, office-based staff and management.

Working to promote the sector as a viable industry for women since opening in 2011, HMS was thrilled that its work has been recognised by the National Federation of Builders and that its teams and ally’s dedication to supporting women into the industry has been recognised.

Celebrating the news, Managing Director, Paul Worthington, said: “Over the past decade, HMS has worked with numerous partners and organisations to actively promote the opportunities available for women in the construction sector and to celebrate our efforts – along with all the support Tara has offered us and the women in our communities – is brilliant.

“Congratulations to Gail, Lynn and Tara! It’s fantastic to see our team and partners recognised for their hard work and I am pleased to say that these three inspirational people represent a larger drive for finding more talent in our communities from HMS. I know each of these women, along with a number of colleagues across the business, have motivated so many women into careers they never would have explored and seeing new talent join HMS because of their support is fantastic.

“We have a number of examples of people being encouraged to explore the opportunities we have available because of Gail, Lynn and Tara - all sharing their career journey’s - and I am really looking forward to continuing our work to attract even more women to HMS in the coming years.”
