Leading North West construction company, HMS, is delighted to welcome a new Chair to its Board of Directors; David Young.

Taking over from Paula McGrath, who is stepping down after completing the maximum period of tenure with HMS and the wider Torus Group, David will continue working closely with HMS’ Leadership and Management Teams to further grow the organisation’s area of operations, turnover and ultimately investment in local communities.

Joining HMS this month, David’s extensive experience of helping large-scale, private organisations – such as Firstport and British Gas – increase revenue, maximise operational outputs and improve service delivery will be vital in supporting HMS’ growth and diversification objectives.

Discussing his latest role, David commented: “I feel incredibly privileged to join HMS and help them further their growth and expansion across the North West. What I admire about HMS the most, is its business model and how its success directly impacts people in its communities. This symbiotic relationship has already recorded a number of positive outcomes and I am excited to see how we can further leverage this model to ensure even more people benefit from the works the team delivers, especially during this critical time.

Paula became Chair of the HMS Board in 2020, following her 4-year stint as an independent Board Member. She added: “I have been involved with HMS for many years now and I am so incredibly proud of just how far the organisation has come throughout my tenure on its Board and as Chair. Growing its services and size exponentially in a relatively short time is something everyone in HMS should be proud of and I am thrilled to be leaving the organisation in a strong position with a highly experienced new Chair.

“Good luck David and I am already looking forward to seeing where HMS is in another 10 years with your leadership.”

Joining David on the HMS Board this month are Christine Fallon and Lisa Greenhalgh , who will also support HMS to realise its growth ambitions and help the organisation to invest even more into local communities and the creation of sustainable employment and training opportunities.

Finally, stepping down from the HMS Board along with Paula is Gordon Hood, whose commitment to HMS over the years has seen the business grow exponentially, diversify extensively and become the award-winning organisation it is today.
