HMS completes Heathside, handing over transformative care scheme to Torus
16 April 2024
Award-winning construction company, HMS, is celebrating handing over Heathside; a unique living scheme which will see future tenants' complex needs and individual circumstances met through the provision of secure, state-of-the-art homes.
Developed in partnership with Torus, St Helens Borough Council and the NHS, Heathside is the first scheme of its type in St Helens and incorporates – as standard – a number of innovative technologies and solutions designed specifically to ensure residents are safe and supported in their homes.
With each of the 8 apartments fitted with a range of anti-ligature devices, an advanced alarm system, numerous telehealth products and supported with round-the-clock onsite care provision, the £1.3 million scheme is the latest development of this type completed by HMS.
Discussing Heathside’s completion, HMS Managing Director, Paul Worthington, said: “As a contractor we not only care about the quality of the completed scheme, but about the people who will eventually live in the homes we build. Heathside is a fantastic example of how the team have worked in new ways and collaborated with numerous providers to create a development that is not only unique, but leading the way in creating a fully integrated offer that provides people with the best care and support available.
“We’re proud to have led the construction of this development and to have completed a scheme that has not only physically transformed the area but will go onto have such a positive impact on the lives of the people who move into Heathside.”
Paula Underwood, Torus Group Head of Torus Support Network, said: “There were many challenges in refurbishing the building to create a safe and appropriately designed home for the new residents.
“We are thrilled with the final result and are grateful to HMS for working so exceptionally with the specialist companies to integrate specialist technologies and innovation into this ground-breaking scheme.”
